A crupie distributes two cards to both players and banks in an attempt to maximize fairness in all casino gaming environments, regardless of location, provider or type of game being offered. These cards may then be either placed upright or at an angle depending on which casino, provider or type of gambling game is being employed.

At present, winning hand usually pays 2:1. There are two situations to note that could tangibly alter this result: two given cards totalling nine or fewer than five cards are given out as gifts.

If the total value of two cards exceeds nine, the initial digit of their value will be reduced. For example, if two 8s were distributed equally and totalled 16 in value; in bacara that total would be counted as six.

If a player’s hand totals five or fewer cards, an additional card will be given out.

If a player stays and their value exceeds five, their bank will receive another card if their value falls between five and nine.
